Sacred 2 Preview
The Sacred franchise returns in this gorgeous sequel to the 2004 sleeper hit.

Unlike many games that require leveling to unlock skills, in Sacred 2 all 15 of your “combat arts” are available to you from the start. However, only four are usable at a time. Combat arts can be improved. For example, a meteor shower combat art may conjure small meteors that fall on only one enemy, but can be upgraded to deal damage to multiple enemies. At later levels, you can chain certain combat arts to perform combination attacks.

The graphics look beautiful. The reflections in a window, the shimmering water, footprints left in sand – all contribute to a more immersive environment. The weather effects are a nice bonus. Although they aren’t quite Age of Conan realistic and I wasn’t told of the system requirements, I’m sure that you’ll still need a very good graphics card and processor to produce such stunning visuals on your computer. Of course you can always get it for the Xbox 360 or PS3 instead, but the PC version looked incredibly sharp.

Although its predecessor was mainly known for being a “Diablo clone”, Sacred 2: Fallen Angel appears ready to stretch its legs as an individual action RPG. Though the non-WASD controls on the PC version still bug me, the game overall looks very promising. We'll have more on the game before its release this fall.
