E3 2008: Command and Conquer: Red Alert 3 Preview
The Rising Sun looks bright for the future.
Date: Tuesday, July 15, 2008
Author: Troy S. Goodfellow

The hands-on experience shows that many of the other C&C defaults are in place. Combat and expansion are fast, with even the “slow” building of Rising Sun structures proceeding at a healthy pace. Your focus is still very close to the ground, making sure you notice all of the animations and explosions. As the demo was designed to show off the new faction, (the other two are mostly similar to earlier versions, so as to not annoy the fans) it was hard to get a sense of how the flexibility of the Rising Sun will match against the traditional Red Alert balance.

For RTS fans, the game is, at this stage, a retro romp with better explosions. This was enough to make Command and Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars one of the best games of its type in 2007. EA may not need a time machine to continue its path to world domination.
