Fable: The Lost Chapters Review
12 out of 12
Fable: The Lost Chapters is undeniably charming and fun.

Perhaps the game's biggest failing is that it's too easy and there are no difficulty settings to make it a bit tougher. Of course a game doesn't have to be hard to be fun but it's quite possible to play through the entire game without dying because of the liberal amount of healing potions available. Even the boss fights are a bit of a letdown because of the game's lack of bite, and for a combat heavy RPG that's a bit of a surprise.

Lack of difficulty, aside, Fable: The Lost Chapters just plain works; it isn't the deepest RPG around, and if you play it straight through it isn't the longest, either, but it has more charm and more "smile" moments than any other role-playing game this year. - William Abner
