All-in-all, the Zuul add a great more variety to larger game sessions, and seeing their unique new implements of war in action (like the grappling hooks or boarding parties) provide a constant testament to their savage and crude forms of combat that. Seeing an entire new line of 3D modeled ship designs for the Zuul was nice, although it’s admittedly hard to take some of their ships seriously when the forward command sections are built around a literal reptilian skull. The nice thing about the expansion is that it adds so many novel little features that players will find themselves spending lots of their time just exploring the new options they have at their disposal and finding new ways to take over the galaxy.
This might be due to a simple lack of competition for the moment, but Sword of the Stars just plains ‘works’ and is one of the best epic space strategy games you can buy. . Given how the package costs roughly $30 and is currently available as an online-download from the official website (http://bornofblood.swordofthestars.com), there’s no reason for fans of the original game not to pick this up.
