Welcome to the land of metal, where mullets command respect and solos literally melt faces. I will be your guide on this journey, holding your hand to defeat the bosses, survive the stage battles, and collect a few Achievements on the side. The intent of this guide is to aid you in defeating Doviculus and liberating your fellow headbangers throughout the single-player campaign. Since the game does not explicitly alert you to the onset of the numerous chapters, this walkthrough is divided chronologically into Sections and/or Achievements.
“Now You Must Tell the Tale” – View all Legends
13 Legends are scattered about the land in the form of hulking, stone dragons. Use Eddie’s Earthshaker to unlock a Legend and reveal the lore hidden inside. You can wait until the end of the game to go back and find the Legends, but I recommend keeping these locations in mind as you progress. They are the only means of exploring Brutal Legend’s rich back-story.
Legends 1-7
Legends 8-13
“Beast Master” – Ride one of every ridable animal
This is an easy Achievement to get that requires little more than an attentive eye throughout your quest. When you see one of the following beasts, use your Shocker until the creature is stunned and hop on. Razorfire Boars can only be found in one place, which will be highlighted in a later mission, and Hextadons may require a few trips back and forth through the winter region. You should encounter the rest of the creatures naturally as you explore.
Section 1: “Got a Car and a Date”
After one of the most epic intros in gaming, it’s time to grab your axe and… well, your other axe. The next three videos will take you through the opening level. It’s very straightforward with only a few points to keep in mind. When fighting the worm-boss, you want to hit the nitrous before Eddie announces an incoming strike. By the time he speaks, it’s often too late. Look ahead to the Hate Cages (tall walkers) when making your getaway across the crumbling bridge. Those are the spots that will fall.
