Konami Digital Entertainment today revealed new details for Hellboy, its upcoming video game based on the hit entertainment property for the PLAYSTATION 3, Xbox 360 and PSP. Continuing his portrayal of the character from the hit 2004 film, actor Ron Perlman will provide Hellboy’s voice in all versions of the video game. Boasting incredible graphics and advanced context-sensitive combat mechanics, Hellboy combines action and exploration elements to deliver an original brawling experience on the PLAYSTATION 3 system and Xbox 360. On the PSP system, the game will feature a striking new visual style and more contained gameplay that is better suited to handheld gaming while retaining the same bone crushing action and original storyline as the console versions of the title.

Based on the Hellboy comic book series from Dark Horse Comic, Hellboy on the PLAYSTATION 3 system and Xbox 360 lets players unleash the Right Hand of Doom in visceral melee combat as they battle to thwart a diabolical Nazi plot. As Hellboy, players will be able to use a number of combat strategies to take on their enemies. Hellboy can quickly attack or charge up each strike for added supernatural force. He can also counter enemy attacks, leaving them vulnerable to massive strikes and throws. Players can also utilize a deep grappling system to devastate their enemies in close quarters combat, throwing them into the heavily destructible environments or using the enemies themselves as weapons. Using an advanced artificial intelligence system, each group of enemies will have a leader that issues commands and heightens morale among their team. Players can choose to take on this leader to weaken the pack or use their full spectrum of combat skill to take on the group head-on and collect valuable power-ups. Hellboy will feature online cooperative play, letting two gamers experience the entire game together as the crimson skinned brawler and other characters from the extended Hellboy universe.

Continuing Konami’s commitment to producing original content for handheld video game systems, Hellboy for the PSP system features an original visual style and new gameplay elements built around episodic play sessions. Using hand-painted textures and a distinct color scheme, the PSP system version of Hellboy allows for enhanced visibility while emphasizing the series’ comic book roots. The game will also feature remixed levels and gameplay optimized for handheld play. Special combat areas, new objectives and exclusive abilities provide extensive replay value and segment the game into smaller portions that are ideal for gaming on the go.

Hellboy will launch for the PLAYSTATION 3 system, Xbox 360 and PSP system in Fall 2007.
