A post over on the PlayStation blog by Eric Lempel, the Director of PlayStation Network Operations, has confirmed that a new PlayStation 3 firmware version will be launching soon and with it will come “XMB” access in-game, improved system stability, as well as a new feature called “trophies”.

Although no details are given about the new trophies, it is speculated that they will be the PlayStation 3 version of the Xbox 360’s achievements. So instead of getting Cheevos, PlayStation 3 owners can look forward to spending countless hours replaying a game just to get "Trophs" and being known as trophy whores. Enjoy it!
