Just when you thought it might be okay to get back online...

As pointed out at Nylevia, hackers have found, and possibly employed, methods of accessing PSN users' accounts with only an email address and date of birth.

Sr. Director, Corporate Communications & Social Media Patrick Seybold stated, "We temporarily took down the PSN and Qriocity password reset page. Contrary to some reports, there was no hack involved. In the process of resetting of passwords there was a URL exploit that we have subsequently fixed."

Hack or no hack, this is still a problem. The PlayStation Network has barely been operational for three days after hackers gained access to sensitive customer information, followed by reports that Sony outright ignored serious vulnerabilites in the months prior.

It makes us wonder if this the result of gross negligence on Sony's part, or if our information is this vulnerable everywhere online.
