One way in which Saboteur certainly takes a different approach to the genre is in its presentation. Areas occupied by Nazi forces appear in grayscale, desaturated. Completing missions and releasing Parisians from the grip of Nazi oppression restores color. Mr. Hong asserts, “We’re pushing for a cinematic feel to the game. Toying with the colors not only provides a visual sign that something is wrong with the world, but it also is incredibly stylish.”

When asked whether this stylish presentation will be seen on PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360, the tight-lipped response was to expect “Saboteur on next-generation platforms.” It seems safe to assume a multiplatform release next year for Pandemic’s title, although further details are to be divulged later this year. With approximately a year left in development, much of Saboteur is still essentially under construction and liable to change; for example, whether multiplayer will be included has yet to be decided, leaving open the possibility for either local or online gameplay. While we certainly would have appreciated more concrete details, from what little we’ve seen of Saboteur it definitely looks to shake up the rather staid arsenal of World War II action games. - Tracy Erickson
