Beyond the use of Nectar, Haze looks to push the first-person genre with a breed of intense action blended with storytelling. Free Radical Design assures us about a dozen seamless environments from sandy shores to arid desert to chilly mountain passes. Moving from each level there will be zero loading times, something the developer hopes will heighten immersion. Never leaving the first-person perspective definitely helps in that goal, always giving you the action from Carpenter's view.
In addition to the single player story-driven campaign, Haze will offer a number of multiplayer modes. Both competitive and cooperative play is promised, although Free Radical and Ubisoft are remaining tight-lipped until E3. We did find out that the game will feature two different cooperative modes, a split-screen play through the campaign and a four player online mode. Ubisoft promises a full hands-on demonstration during E3, so check back with us for more impressions in July.
