E3 2008: Tom Clancy’s H.A.W.X Preview
If you and your friends have ever wanted to pretend to be Maverick, Jester, and Iceman from Top Gun, here's your chance.

I was piloting the F-22 Raptor, currently the fiercest plane in the skies (so they say. I don’t really know anything about planes). When it began, I was in first person view, which is situated behind the plane. Yu said that cockpit view will be available, but it’s not quite ready yet. He suggested for me to then switch to third person view or “dogfight mode” because it would be easier for me to see my opponents and what’s around me.

Sadly, it didn’t quite help as I crashed helplessly to the ground. After a few more fumbles, I discovered that I fly best in first person view. Perhaps if I had used the Enhanced Reality System (ERS), I would have done better. ERS is a toggleable option that helps crappy flyers like me play better by highlighting the best points of attack or directions to evade. Still, I was doing better and actually managed to shoot someone down.

Tom Clancy’s H.A.W.X. looks very promising for fans of flight simulators and air combat games. I don’t know why the release date was pushed back an extra several months, but I hope that it will be worth it.
