WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2010 Hands On Preview

While I tried to produce a Rock Band-ish Diva with fishnets and a light-blue hair-do, my partner in crime aimed for the most twisted freak imaginable. Blue-skinned, gorilla-headed, with an off-purple goatee and 15-odd piercings, his half-naked creature nearly won The Miz's affection. Other custom creations included Mario, The Hulk, the Joker and a 7'2” chicken-footed beast with a large rooster head.

Like previous installments, you can also create a Finisher. However this time around, you can make a Diving Finisher. The game breaks the move into four parts: the taunt, take off, descent and finish. For each of these parts, you can choose the animation as well as adjust the motion, speed, trajectory and height. I personally favor the 15-foot high flip off of the turnbuckle with a swift elbow to the opponent's stomach.

ROAD TO WRESTLEMANIA

After grazing through the Create modes, Williams detailed the six new Road to Wrestlemania stories starring favorites like The Edge, Triple H, John Cena, Randy Orton and even diva Mickie James. For the first time, you can also give your created Superstar a chance at the big show. Each of the six stories, totaling roughly 24 hours of gameplay, includes interactive cutscenes. For example, in your Superstar's introduction, Santino beckons you, the audience member, to take him on in the ring. Pressing A allows you to step up and beat him to a pulp. Although I only witnessed QTEs and the ability to look around with the left thumbstick, keep your fingers crossed that the later cutscenes contain a little more action.

The Road to Wrestlemania is your only key to unlockable content. Williams wouldn't let us in on most of the game's unlocks, but he did offer up one: The red and green dummies from the Create-A-Finisher can be unlocked as playable characters.
