Virtua Fighter 5 feels like it caters to its rabid fan base more than it courts newcomers. A gorgeous graphical update and two new characters are more than enough to satiate the appetites of ardent followers; however, there really isn’t much here that significantly sets this fifth installment apart from previous efforts. This, along with the glaring lack of online features, makes Virtua Fighter 5 limited in its appeal. Even if it doesn’t shake the series up, it would be hard to deny the allure of spectacular visuals and finely-crafted fighting in Virtua Fighter 5.
