How do you mess up a next-gen combat game with dragons? Seriously. How can you possibly screw that up?

With the camera jetting about the screen, you often don't get to appreciate the mastery of the game's presentation. Lair boasts some of the most beautiful visuals of any game this year. The deteriorating, scarred surface of Lair's world appears equally detailed from a mile up on Rohn's dragon as it does on the ground. Occasionally the framerate drops when too much action populates the screen, but it happens infrequently. Along with the graphics come a world-class orchestral score. It's a rousing musical accompaniment that sets a new standard for gaming. More titles need scores this moving, this powerful.

It's easy to get sucked in by the impressive presentation; however don't succumb to the wiles of this deeply flawed game. Lair has major problems with its use of motion-controls, despite nailing basic movements. Flat out broken contextual sequences, a choppy camera, and groan-inducing level design are hardly reasons to recommend it.

New DLC brings back some fan favorites to take on some pivotal roles.
