When you take over as EVE you get to fly around the levels. She has both her pulse field that she can fire as well as the cannon in her right arm. Flying around with her is quite cool and the levels she is in are far more wide open than WALL•E’s because she has access to the whole map and usually doesn’t need to open doors in order to proceed. Later on in the game, the title character uses her cannon to take out enemies while he is attempting to break her out of the confinement she finds herself in during the movie. This section is obviously an addition to the movie, but it is surprisingly fun and a good addition to the ongoing plot.
There are some problems with the game though that may frustrate players both young and old. The first problem is the huge amount of loading time before even getting into the game and during each level. The next problem has to do with intermittent slowdown in the game. WALL•E himself moves quite quickly and oftentimes the game can’t keep up with him and will slowdown a bit. The last problem has to do with the loose controls, especially with the aforementioned quickness of the main character. The precision aiming aspect is a misnomer because there was no option to lower the sensitivity of the analog stick which would have made it far more accurate than it is.
The game WALL•E certainly does a good job of duplicating the overall story of the movie and for that it should be commended. Adding in the collection aspect as an option was a fantastic idea for catering to the younger crowd. This game should be enjoyable for the whole family and a parent may need to be present in order to explain everything to a child. For a movie tie-in game for the younger crowd, it's not bad.
