Every month, Sony plans on releasing question packs with various themes. The question packs will be composed of two types: generic and branded. Generic packs cover wide topics, such as video games or sci-fi, while branded packs are based upon a single brand, such as National Geographic or Sony Pictures. Love a certain Sony Pictures franchise? It’s a good bet that in the future there will be a Buzz Quiz Pack focusing on it.
If that weren’t enough, people can also create and share their own quizzes. By logging on to MyBuzzQuiz.com owners can create their own quizzes, and then share it with the world. Much like Bungie did with its Halo 3 website, you can also queue up what you want to download quiz-wise and have it start up for you next time you load up Quiz TV.
The integration between your PSN account and Buzz is a very surprising—and welcome—addition. Not only can you download and post quizzes for others to try, but you can also rate them, putting in place a system of checks-and-balances. Know enough about The Simpsons to recognize that quiz got several questions wrong? Give it a bad rating, and in the future people likely won’t download it. The ability to create and download user quizzes adds an incredible amount of replay to the game, and that combined with the Sony-sponsored question packs ensures Quiz TV will last much, much longer than any previous Buzz game could ever hope to.
Buzz has always been the type of game that gamers and non-gamers can enjoy due to its pick-up-and-play nature combined with a friendly level of competition. If it had any big shortcoming, it was that the questions would quickly repeat, rendering the entire game basically useless as it turned into a match of “Who Can Remember The Most From The Game?” With the new additions of online play and downloadable content, Sony has created a quiz game which will not only stay fresh and new, but will also make it easier than ever for friends and families to play with one another no matter where they are.
