The coolest part of this game is also the most useless in the long term – the board controller. Surprisingly sturdy and well constructed, the required controller for Ride is pretty impressive. The sensors work well and the design certainly mimics the feeling of being on a board. Heck, I find myself absent-mindedly standing on the board, scooting around my living room. It's a shame that a well engineered piece of electronics will not likely see any other use than a collector's item within a year's time.
Tony Hawk: Ride is a failed experiment that likely sounded great in a staff meeting. The idea isn’t a bad one. It’s the game that’s the problem. The technology behind the controller is really cool and impressive on its own, but it’s paired with a poorly designed piece of software that will serve as a constant reminder that you spent $120 on a novelty item. It's a shame, but this will probably spell the end of an otherwise well-liked franchise. Oh well, back to waiting for Skate 3.
