While many things have been discussed with this game creator, it still is not widely known around the world as of yet. They do have a very interesting business plan with their games, most of them are free to play. If you do continue to play the game though, you do have the option of paying for the game monthly to receive additional features, like more experience gain, customization of characters, or less experience loss when dying. They currently are pushing four main games: Knight Online, Global Mu, FX Golf, and War Rock.
Knights Online
Knight Online
Speaking about Knight, they do have quite a fresh system, something you will not find with games like Lineage 2. For starters the game is free, which allows people get the their feet wet in the world. The only way to currently get it though is to download it from their website.
This leads to keeping in touch with their players, allowing them to keep everything neat, and fresh. In the end they say that their founding principal will be for putting people first. They believe an online game is a service, and that is how it should be devoted online with everyone connected to it.
War Rock
Their second main game is War Rock, which they plan on releasing very soon. On the horizon they do have an open beta, but that is still a bit in the future. The game certainly does look quite nice, involving things like smoke effects, lots of exploration and a visual style and gameplay style that is similar to Battlefield 2 (the most notable comparison being the ability to jump from vehicle to vehicle). One thing I found a little lacking was the inability to cause environmental damage, but they did make up with it in a few different ways.
The game did have similar features to Counterstrike, like the death tracker that pops up with each kill. The weapons are also based on real life counterparts, which helps adds to the realism. Teams in the game can be set up in different ways, allowing for big vs team battles that are balanced.
When it comes to vehicles, there a few nice ones to choose from. You can go from planes, to helicopters and go mobile on land with vehicles armed with a variety of weapons. When flying around with the helicopters you may even have rocket launchers stationed in it.
The game does have a rank system tied to the account, which means as you move up with that group of characters, different levels will be acceptable. I will also note that in this that means you would further be limited to not being on the newbie channel when you continue game-play, which does force you to play with those whom are at your level, to further improve your skills.
War Rock
You do have several different character classes, like engineer, medic (female even), a scout / sniper, a combatant, and heavy weapons unit. Each of these characters has four basic items / weapon slots, which can be increased to five if enough experience is gained. The battles can range from small to large, sometimes 8 Vs 8, but it is also possible to go with up to 32 players on some maps. These do lead to asymmetric battles which are quite fun, where you can capture checkpoints to freshen up spawn points.
Finally with bi-monthly/monthly upgrades it does seem to be a great game that will be available soon and offer a lot of extended gameplay if K2 does things right with the final build.
What we saw during our appointment was only the tip of the iceberg for this company, but its was certainly a change of pace in the online gaming space. Here's to hoping K2 works out the few kinks we saw in these titles and has them ready for prime time later this year. You can learn more about these games by visiting
