It's a no brainer that Nintendo has brought the first-person hit Metroid franchise, Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, to the next-generation Wii console. Developed once again by Retro Studios, Metroid Prime 3 continues the adventures of that popular intergalactic bounty hunter Samus as she kicks butts and takes names - and you can bet her space aged PDA will be holding a long, long list of them by the end of this latest adventure.
The story this time around sees Samus coming to the rescue of the Galactic Federation’s Base Sector Zero, which is under attack by space pirates. And if that wasn't a hard enough task to deal with, Samus will find someone at the end of her journey that may prove to be her undoing. The game will feature a variety of familiar bad guys and good guys include good old Samus, Dark Samus, the Galactic Federation and many new bounty hunters.
This latest Metroid Prime action adventure game is served up in a first-person perspective, with control being handled by both the Wii Remote and nunchuk to navigate and shoot at bad guys. The control scheme works very well for first-person action games (like Red Steel, for example), allowing players to maneuver using the nunchuk and shoot using the remote.
The game looks pretty spiffy too, but the important thing that Nintendo is focusing on is gameplay - and that looks to be very good indeed.. Besides the standard rolling, and shooting players will also be able to pull off new amazing moves like shooting in mid-air.
In addition to the standard weapons you've become familiar with in this game (Grapple Beam and Morph Ball), players will have a whole new arsenal of weapons to toy with. While these haven't been revealed yet, Nintendo says that you'll be able to power them up as you advance through the game - just like previous games in the series.
Metroid Prime 3 hasn't been rated and a release date has not been announced. We'll have more on this game as it becomes available.
