While all of the revelations regarding gameplay bode well for The Witcher, its visual presentation was the first thing that caught my attention. The game is both technically stunning and remarkably stylish. You'd never guess the game runs off a modified version of the old Aurora engine built for the original Neverwinter Nights. One of the most noticeable changes from earlier versions of the game is the heads-up display. Having hired a visual designer to work solely on the layout of the graphical interface, it has truly paid off with a beautiful and unique look.

After years of development, Atari will be shipping the game at the end of October as an official Games for Windows title. Keep an eye out for our in-depth hands-on preview of The Witcher where we finally get a chance to control Geralt ourselves next month before the game ships.
