E3 2008: Rayman Raving Rabbids TV Party Preview
It’s not every day that one gets to play a game using one’s butt.

Although only one person at a time can play some of the 50 minigames such as snowboarding, your friends can still participate by “sabotaging” you. That is, they can use the Wiimote and at certain points initiate attacks such as throwing ink to temporarily block your vision. Game designer Antoine Henry was with me during the demo, though he was being nice and didn’t sabotage me much. In fact, I did a fine job sabotaging myself.

After snowboarding, Henry asked me, “Now do you want to play on your bum?” Hells yeah! This time the game was luge. The objective is to pass through the gates and ramps. I noticed that the Balance Board is very sensitive, for I often overcorrected when I leaned left and right. I found it difficult to steer, but Henry explained that I was actually playing a more difficult level. When I finally jumped a ramp, I triggered a brief inner game in which I had to strike poses using the Wiimote and nunchuk while sailing through the air.

I cannot wait for Rayman Rabbids TV Party to come out. The minigames are really fun, the rabbids are awesome as always, and I think this would be a hit at parties. My biggest concern however, is that you pretty much need the Balance Board, which is as rare as an albino bat. A good 30% of the minigames are board-related, though I was told that the Wii-mote can be used for them. However, this may translate to 30% less fun since the Balance Board adds so much to the gameplay.
