  • Mistaken identity is usually not a good thing, especially when you’re a humble musician imprisoned because you were believed to be a warrior. Such is the fate that befalls young Capell, the hero in Infinite Undiscovery. When the evil Dreadknight shackles the life-giving moon to the planet, a warrior named Sigmund attempts to free the moon, but fails. When an attempt to capture Sigmund is made, poor Capell is caught instead, throwing the musician on a path he doesn’t wish to take.

Infinite Undiscovery is a single-player game and you play as Capell. You’re accompanied by a group of AI allies that help you a la Marvel Ultimate Alliance. In the demo I played, I was accompanied by three others including Sigmund. I don’t know if you meet other characters along the way who tag along, nor am I not sure if characters can be swapped out for other ones. Unfortunately you can’t play as any of the other characters, though Aya the archer can be somewhat controlled, which I’ll explain shortly.

Each of your alllies in the game has their own special abilities. Sigmund is a melee character and does some really cool-looking special moves with his sword. As mentioned, Aya is a hunter, and Michelle the spell caster rounds out the AI group. As Capell, you use a sword. When you attack an enemy or a monster, your AI friends automatically join in the attack, executing their special moves.

While there’s nothing wrong with having all the AI attack with you, sometimes you need one in particular to go ahead of you. To do so, you use the Connect System, which allows you to highlight a particular character. For example, Sigmund is a stronger fighter, so it’s best to send him ahead to start attacking enemies. On the other hand, if you see an enemy perched on top of a column, connect with Aya so she can shoot it down for you. Since you still need to aim, you can partially control Aya to aim at the enemy.
