E3 2008: Empire Total War Preview
The Total War series tackles the Age of Napoleon and the Age of Sail.
Date: Tuesday, July 22, 2008
Author: Troy S. Goodfellow

Everything looks great. Sailors mill about on ships and engage in hand to hand combat in boarding operations. You can see the gunners by their cannon when you zoom below deck so you can check on your armament status. Ideally there will be a better way of tracking whether port or starboard has more functioning guns, but the interface is one of the sparest yet, letting you use all the visual cues on screen to figure out what is going on.

There’s also a new “story mode” that revolves around the Revolutionary War spanning from the founding of Jamestown to the era of George Washington, but a lot is under wraps on that at the moment until the Leipzig convention in August.

Not due for release till early next year, there is still lots of time to work out the details on this highly anticipated Napoleonic era strategy game. .
