I did get to try out the dancing portion of the game, which to me looked more fun than just standing still and singing into a mic. A green ball acts as a metronome, changing color if you’re not in time with the beat. Various icons appear, indicating the dance move you should do. For example, a pointed finger icon means you should point in that direction John Travolta-style, or an icon featuring two arms in the air means to (you guessed it!) throw your arms in the air. The dance moves naturally start off simple, but can get very challenging at higher levels. Advanced moves include spinning, moving from side to side, and swinging the Wiimote in the air like a lasso.
Boogie SuperStar looks like a fun game for young girls who want to pretend they’re Hannah Montana or Ali and AJ. It’s the type of game that girls may want to play at a birthday or slumber party. The biggest hurdle is that a lot of kids may not enjoy the fact that they’re not singing along to a real Britney Spears song or dancing to a Fergie tune.
