NBA Live 09 Preview
EA Sports gets aggressive in its bid to bring NBA Live back to the forefront of videogame hoops.

We do know that the game is getting more than its fair share of offensive features with new pick-and-roll controls and a revised passing system. Holding down L2 when in possession switches control to one of your teammates, effectively granting control over two players at once. It's a phenomenal way of setting up a play, widening the range of possible offensive maneuvers. A new circular pass gauge also changes things up, the type of pass determined by how far you fill the gauge.

All of these new gameplay features will make their way to online matches where you can play up to 9 others in 5v5 games. NBA Live 09 also packs in custom leagues and the ability to create highlight reels that can be uploaded online for your buddies to see. It's all part of a push to overtake the popular and steady 2K series. While we'd like to see more work on defense, and we didn't get to see the franchise mode and its level of AI, everything else is looking downright fantastic in what could be a landmark installment for this long standing series.

Here's a video regarding the Dynamic DNA from EA's E3 presentation.
