Resistance 2 Preview
A first look at eight player co-op and two new missions from the single player campaign!
Date: Wednesday, September 24, 2008
Author: Tracy Erickson

As innovative as it is to push the number of players supported in both cooperative and competitive modes, Resistance 2 is striking in its quality more than anything. Across both multiplayer modes and the single player campaign, the game features an undeniable level of quality. "The benefit of being a third generation PlayStation 3 game is the ability to do lots of tweaks and polish," states Price. Visually, the sequel leaps ahead of the original with far more detail, greater activity on the screen, and a more solid performance.

Beyond graphics, Resistance 2 promises better balancing in its multiplayer modes and improved pacing in the solo campaign. Then there are the small touches like bonus content tied to the trophies you unlock, experience that accumulates across all three modes, and power-ups specific to the competitive aspect of the game. Price hopes that Resistance 2 seizes the first-person shooter crown when it ships in November. "We have an opportunity to jump ahead in the genre," he observes. We’ll find out if it jumps soon enough.
