Divinity II: Ego Draconis Preview
Have dragon, will travel

Another interesting feature in Divinity II is the choose-your-own-adventure style of storytelling. Yes, past games have offered you “choices” when it comes to responding to an NPC or doing a certain quest, but most of the time you end up with the same results regardless of what you select. However in Divinity II, your choices really do matter. The rep gave an example of a quest in which a woman asks you to deliver a letter to a blacksmith. You open the letter and find that she’s having an affair with the blacksmith. You may decide to tell her husband, who may then go in a jealous rage and kill his wife. Or you may tell the blacksmith and blackmail him. Or you may tell the wife and blackmail her. If you choose to tell the husband and he kills his wife, you might remove any possibilities of her giving you future quests or knowledge about hidden treasure. If you blackmail the blacksmith, he’ll probably resent you and not become a source of future quests.

Divinity II: Ego Draconis looks promising, with its flexible character customization, fluid storyline and of course, the whole dragon thing. I would recommend the PC version though, as the Xbox 360 version paled in comparison graphics-wise, at least in the current build. The game is slated for a 2009 holiday release.
