Chapter 11: Range War
After the scene in the bank, you are in control of the feisty Annie Stoakes. When she reaches her farm, seems the governor has sent some people to reclaim her property. At first you will need to take out Gilbert and Dirk as they ride around the area on their horses. Dirk can be found in the burning barn on the right while Gilbert will be off riding all over the place. When those two are dead, enter the barn and take out the riflemen on the top level. There will be three or four of them up there so make sure you get them all. When you are running around the barn, you will be told to free the livestock as well. Stay back from the stable doors and shoot the handle to open them. The bulls inside will come running out and if you are too close they will run you over. Also be wary of the fire burning. If you touch it, you go up in flames as well. (Yes I learned that the hard way).
When they are free and the riflemen dead, a few more bandits will appear. About five in total will come running towards the burning barn. Take them out easily enough or if you like for more fun, head over to the bulls that are wandering about and hop on one to ride around on it and run the bad guys over. When they are dead, head for the fence across from the barn where there is also a bale of hay. Now there will be a rush of enemies that come from the field on the other side of the fence. Use the hay for cover and pop each enemy as they appear. There are plenty of them that come and for some strange reason if you stay behind the bale of hay when the enemies reach you, they run right past you and don’t bother fighting you. Shoot them in the back while they don’t fight back to make them easy victims. When they are all dead and the rush stops coming, another scene plays and you are shown two more bandits arrive riding bulls. These are Buff and Holstein
For these two bull riders, you can hop on a bull yourself and chase them down or do it the easy way and hide behind the other side of the bale of hay and pop each one as they ride past you. They won’t run you over when you are behind the hay which is a pretty nasty attack and a lot of the time they will just stop riding and stay in one place for a while which will allow you lots of time to plug them full of bullets. Keep your sights on one of them at a time and then worry about the other one. They are easier to deal with separately then together. When both have been taken down, Red arrives and a scene plays out to end the chapter.
Chapter 12: Saloon Fight
This fight just seems odd and long. You have no weapons to use other than bottles, kick and punches. There are three girls, Rachel, Megan and Tammy, around the bar that you also need to keep alive. I had one of them lose all their health but nothing happened so I am assuming that all three need to die before you fail. You can throw the bottles at the enemies which seem to be the best attack for these guys. When you have cleared the lower level of enemies, head up the stairs and you can find two girls in a bathtub selling health max increase as well as some more enemies at the end of the hall, one with a knife. When you finally have them all cleared out, one of the girls will let you enter the theatre so you can face off against the fellows you were questioning in the bar.
Have the show down with one and then you will need to fight the rest. Here you can flip over the poker tables and use them for cover. These guys aren’t that tough so take them out quickly and another scene will play. When the curtain goes up, the real tough battle with Sam and his cohorts starts. At the start, everyone will be on the balcony along the second floor firing down at you and there will be two dancing girls on stage with rifles. Sam is a tough mofo that picks up barrels and throws them at you while everyone else fires their guns. Stay under the balcony at the rear of the room so that you don’t have to worry about Sam and take out the girls first. After they are dead, peek out and take out the riflemen first and then worry about Sam when he lands on the ground.
When he does, he will use a charge attack and will pick you up and throw you around. The only time that you can do any real damage to Sam is when he is stunned. There are a few ways to get him stunned but the easiest to start is to have him run into the poker tables. When he is stunned, haul ass on him and get firing everything you have. Reload before he attacks again and have him run into another table. When all the tables are gone, you need to get him to run into either the walls or the stage. Seems he will get stunned the most when it is the shortest distance to do it. Have him chase you to the closest wall to him and when he is stunned have at him. You also may want to keep a health kit floating around just incase he does manage to get a hold of you and tosses you around. After you pop Sam enough times while he is stunned the chapter ends.
Chapter 13: The Traitor
When you have your chat with the sheriff he starts to tell you about who killed your father. When the next chapter starts, it is his story and you take the role of General Diego. You have two other soldiers helping you clear the area of yanks, Franco and Jose. Head under the bridge away from the cannon fire and start to kill all the yanks you come across. You don’t have to keep your other soldiers alive but they do help out with the killing quite a bit. When they are all dead, you will be given instructions on how to defeat the cannons on the other side. You will have a bit of time to mess around and try to take out a few cannons, but you really don’t have to. They just make the next parts of the mission a lot easier without having to worry about cannon balls flying at you.
After a bit, another scene will play and more yank troops will come in. Kill them all and try to stay under the bridge for cover from the cannons. When they are all dead, Diego will give the order to blow up the bridge. Two more soldiers will appear for you and they will be tasked at setting charges on the bridge. You need to keep at least one of them alive until all the charges are set. Kill all the yanks as fast as possible, head shots are much needed here to kill them and protect your bomb placers. When the scene plays, you have all the charges set and the chapter ends.
Chapter 14: Sunset Canyon
Now that you are back in control of Red, you are on the trail of Diego. Make your way forward and you will be told that you can now access a map of the area by using the start menu. Look on the map and you will see some squares and half circles. The half circles are hills and the squares are landmarks. The map is really just useful for later on when the stagecoach comes. Make your way forward and to the left. Kill the soldier there and go to the right and up the hill to the ruined building there. Around it will be a soldier or two and a horse inside it. When you enter the building, another scene will start and the stage coach will enter.
You can hop on the horse if you like to move faster and make your way around to the stage coach. Use your rifle to start taking shots at it and the people on it. If you happen to take too much damage, there is a health kit at the small fenced in monument on top of the hill, and there is one around the back path towards the left side of the map. There are a few ways you can take out the stage coach, either by chasing it on horseback and shooting, or camping it and waiting until it passes you and start firing at it. Either way works fine, but if you camp it, keep an eye out for some soldiers that will be wandering around. Also use the map to see where the coach is and where it’s headed. After you fill the coach with enough lead, it will blow sky high and the chapter will end.
Chapter 15: Bear Mountain
Since Red made a boo boo and got himself caught, you need to be rescued and who better to do it then…well you. Now you play as Shadow Wolf, an Indian with a bow and arrow. Make your way forward and up the rocks. Head to the left across the log to reach a ledge above a camp fire. Take out the soldiers below and be ready for the few that will come up to meet you. Always try to go for head shots with these arrows since they reload slow. Take them all out and head back across the log and start your way left along the ledge. You can go right down along a small passage here to come to a metal box. Shoot it to open it.
Head back out to the camp fire and head up the rocks to a small opening. Follow it through and you will come to another passage with a few enemies. Kill them and continue along until you come to another set of campfires. Usually there will be one person sleeping and the rest awake. If you can kill the one sleeping from far enough away, the others will search for you but won’t know where you are. If you are too close they will come right after you. Kill the camping soldiers and continue until you reach the river. When you do, hop in and head left. Follow it all the way to the end and a scene will play when you pass the last camp site.
Grizzly is scary looking and pretty damn tough if he gets close to you. To start with he’ll bounce from totem pole to totem pole and stay on top of them. Hide behind the rock at the entrance on the right so that he can’t throw his knives at you. Don’t use the cover move on it, just hide behind it. When Grizzly lands and stays put for a few seconds, nail him in the head and wait a few more seconds to nail him again. If you nail him quickly and repeatedly, he will fall off the top and come after you. Nail him and let him regain his balance and then nail him again. Always hit him in the head since it doesn’t seem as though any where else effects him much. If he does get close to you, he’ll throw his knives at you and swipe you and slowly kill you with some goop he puts on you. Stay hidden and nail him in the head, letting him regain balance after each shot and he’ll go down.
Chapter 16: Jail Break
Make your way into the cave and around the corner when the soldier there goes down the side hall to the right. Crouch and walk forward and head down the left side passage way. Make another left and you will come to a room on the right side that has a soldier sitting down at a table. Hide against the wall and throw a knife in the room at him. When he is dead, enter and grab the key from the shelf on the far left. Exit the room and go right and straight to the end where there will be a door marked “to mine”. Go through it and look at the map.
You are supposed to be very quiet throughout this whole part of the mission but it really never turns out that way. For the first part you can do it though. Crouch and head right, sneaking past the sleeping soldier there. Go right again across the bridge and make another right when you reach the other side. Go around the corner twice and there will be a guard in front of the jail sleeping. Throw a knife at his head and take the key when he is dead. Open the jail door and talk to the lady inside. You will need another key to open the cell. Make your way back out and now chances are everyone knows you’re there so just run your but off to the Supply room.
Go back to where you entered the mine and make a left this time all the way to the end. Follow the passage around and unlock the supply room door. Grab the gun and key from inside and then run all the way back to the jail cell again. Open it up and grab the key inside. Talk to the woman twice to be able to by a kiss from her that will increase you max health. Head out of the room once you have it and head all the way back down to the lounge. When you enter, there will be three more soldiers in here for a draw. Try to take out all three or even two if you can, but if you can’t then you can kill them after the draw is over.
Chapter 17: The Mine
When you enter the core area, you will be confronted by Ted and Tony. One will be in the center of the room throwing up fire bombs while the other will be up on your level shooting at you. If you have the shotgun, I suggest you use it here. You can get right up nice and close and plug him in the head and it only takes a few shots with the shot gun. When the first one is dead, the other that was below tossing fire bombs will come up and start throwing them at you. Do the same thing to him that you did his buddy and they will both be defeated in no time flat.
Chapter 18: Stagecoach
This mission is pretty straight forward as you take the role of the Buffalo Soldier from the prison cell. You are on top of the stage coach that you flagged down, but unfortunately it’s full of TNT. You need to fend off Diego’s soldiers long enough to get to the end of the trek and not let them harm the stage coach too much. Make sure you use any lull in the action to reload and always listen to the driver as he will tell you where they are coming from incase you miss it. When you reach the end, the driver will tell you that they are making one last rush. Defeat that and move on to the next part which is more of the same only without horses.
Chapter 19: Hell Pass
Now you need to take out all the Indians you come across on the surrounding cliffs and hills. It’s really not that difficult since each shot is a one hit kill and a lot of them drop health kits that can be picked up by shooting them. Try to shoot the Indians before you get to them and try not to get caught falling behind. If you do then the Indians will have you surrounded and it makes it that much more frustrating to get them all. Your main concern is your health and not the stage coach’s. You will get hit a lot more than the coach so make sure you get each health kit you can and also try to nail the Indians as far in the distance as you can so you have less to worry about when you get up close to where they were.
Chapter 20: Fort Diego
When you enter this mission, you will be back in control of Red and you will have Shadow Wolf with you helping. There will be a gatling gun at the far end of the area and a few enemies around. Ignore them for now and look to the left. There will be a doorway and a balcony up high. Kill the soldier on it and the one below it and hop up the boxes there to get yourself up into the doorway. Enter the building and drop down through the hole in the floor. Clear out the next room and follow the passage way to get out side. Follow the open walkway to the end and kill all the enemies along the way. When you get to the end, hop through the half window and start your way to the left.
Continue along this passage and kill everyone along the way until you reach the end. You will come to two blockades along the hallways that are easily passed by shooting the TNT barrel that will be in the center of it all. When you finally reach the end of the passages, there will be a staircase going up and a door on the left that a big guy will come through. Take him out and the few guys up the stairs. When they are dead, go back down stairs and go out the door to find more enemies in the area where you started. Kill them until a scene starts.
Now you get to square off against the one armed man, Daren who was there when your father was killed. Daren is pretty simple but has one mean cannon attack. He keeps the cannon on his back and I don’t want to know where the cannon balls come from. When he bends over to fire the cannon at you, it makes a bright reflection so you know to move. All you need to do to beat him is stand in front of him, a fair distance apart, not too far, but not too close and keep shooting him in the head. When he goes to fire the cannon and you see the bright flash of the reflection, just dodge to one side and continue firing at him. Easy as pie and just as tasty!
