River of Heavens

After the incredibly long introduction to the story and the game about Orochi and Shiranui, take Ammy and lead him through the bright light at the bottom of the tree. When you enter, hit the mirror to the left and save the game there so incase something happens you don’t need to sit through that intro again. From here, cross the bridge and then start smashing the pots by ramming your head into them. Grab the yen and head to the right side. There you will have a scene where you see a chest and will need to do a double jump to get there. Do it and head butt the chest to get a bone. While your there, smash the rest of the pots and the horse. Once they are broken, head for the next bridge and a scene will play. You will be shown the Rejuvenation brush power which you will be using quite a bit in the near future. Once you are on the other side, you will come to the River of Heavens which isn’t so much right now.

Head up the hill and you will come to a constellation in the sky. Here you will learn how to use the brush to draw in the world. Press R1 to brush up the brush and move it to the head of the dragon where the line has no star at the end of it. Place the brush there and dab it with the square button to draw the star. Once you do, a scene with play and you will have the power from now on. Head back down the hill and head for the dried river bed. Use the brush technique to draw in water in the bed and then start to swim across. You may need to draw more water as you cross depending on how much you covered in the first drawing. Once you are across, hit the chest and get the astral pouch and collect some more goodies from the pots. Head through the light and you will see a path in front of you.

Head up the path and there will be a few places on the left side to smash some pots at. When you are done head banging, continue up the path and go through the large gate to see a statue of Nagi. Look at it and use the brush technique to restore the broken sword in its hand. Once you do, a constellation will appear and you will need to replace the star in it. Once you do and the mouse is done its speech, you will have the Power Slash brush technique. Test it on the rock and then you will need to leave the cave. Before you go, there will be a gang of pots to the right of the gate that you can use the slash on if you are too lazy to head butt them all. When you are ready, slash the logs at the gate and head through to the path. As you head down, some enemies will pop out and attack. Follow the onscreen instructions and continue down to the bright light at the bottom where you entered. Continue to follow the arrow back across the River of Heavens and to the next light back to the tree. Now you can use the Power Slash to cut down the fruit in the tree and restore the people.

Kamiki Village

Once the scene has played, follow the path down to a person who has been turned to stone. Follow the path right, down to the village and examine another statue. Once you do, you will need to head back up the path and this time take a left where the statue was. Head up the path until you reach a platform. Watch the scene and then use the brush to draw a circle and a sun will appear. After your chat with Mr. Orange, kill the enemies there and head butt the chest. Grab the feed bag and the solar pots in the water. Feel free to feed the birds there and head back down to Kamiki village. In the village there will be a few people to talk to to progress so start by talking to Mrs. Orange at the lake and she will tell you that she is missing her pole. After she is done talking, draw a new pole across the where the old one is missing and then draw a sun to dry the clothes. She will tell you to come back later for some cherry cakes. Next head to the Sake plants and talk to Kushi. When you are done talking to her, go to the Sake hut and draw the piece that is missing on the water wheel to fix it.

Once Kushi heads inside to make Sake, follow her in and talk to her and she will drop some Sake. Grab it and head across the bridge and to the large rock blocking the path to the right, and talk to the man there. Once you do, you will have to fight some enemies and a large one with a guitar that smacks his ass. Once the conversation is done, head to the house on the left. Smash the large object at the far end and jump down the ladder. Run over to Susano sleeping and bead butt him to wake him up. You’ll load him on you and you can now carry him back to the boulder. After the scene, make sure you still have the sake and go to the training ground behind Susano’s house. After he talks, you will need to use Power Slash to help him destroy his targets and then the large boulder. Why you didn’t just do that in the first place, I don’t know. After Susano runs off, Sakuya will appear and tell you that she needs help with her Guardian Saplings. After the long speech, hightail it through the opening and down the path. As you enter the field, there will be red curse zones that will drain your life if you enter them. Watch for the floating green ribbons and enter each one to fight the enemies inside. Follow the path along to Hana Valley and talk to the wood cutter there. After his chat, head for the entrance to the valley and enter.

Hana Valley

Save at the mirror near the exit and continue along the path and you will come to some enemies having a party around a campfire. Spoil their fun and enter the tunnel. Break the jugs there and get the fish bag as well. Continue until you come to some ugly trees that will throw things at you. For now, just run past them all until a scene plays showing a sun design. When you get there, a scene will play and some more enemies will attack. Kill them and then have a chat with Susano. After the chat, take a few steps back to the platform where the scene is on the wall and draw a sun in the bare corner. When it appears, the opening will enter and Susano will run through. Follow him to the large room with the small vine like tree in the center. Make a left to the gate and slash it open. Head down the path and save if you like.

When you reach Susano, help him defeat the big mean bear and then push the green ball back into the large room. Head butt it up the ramp on the left of the platform and push it into the small puddle of water. Once you do that, head to the sun symbol on the ground and draw a sun in the sky where the circle appears. Once the scene plays, you will need to draw another constellation, this time adding two stars, one at the top and one just below it. Once you do, you will have the GreenSprout power to bring trees back to life. Use it on the tree there and then head back out to the entrance of the valley. Along the way you will fight a few more enemies and have to face the tees again.

This time, wait for them to toss their nuts at you and use a power slash attack to hit it back at them. When it stuns them, use the greensprout power on them to return them to normal. Continue across the bridge and through a few more enemies and hop across from the monkeys to find a chest with a scroll about digging tips. Dig at the green spot there and use the brush in a circle to bring the clover back to life. Hop back across and head out of the valley. Talk to the woodcutter and then head to the withered sapling in the center. Use the Greensprout power to bring it to life and watch the scene. After it is over, bop the chest to get a scroll on fleeing battle. Head around the area and you will find a store and Ida.

Give Ida the Traveler’s charm and he will take off on his deliveries. Head up the hill towards the Agata forest and make a left to the shrine. Follow the hill down and enter the Moon Shrine on the right. When the scene plays you will be given a list of monsters that need to be captured. As soon as you step back outside, one will appear for you to defeat. Do so and continue on your way after you cross off its name. Head back up the hill and head to the right and you will come to another bridge. Head down to the pyrotechnics house and you will be attacked by a flying fish. Kill it and read the note on the house and it will say to come back at night if it is day. If it’s not, go inside and talk to Tama.

Once you talk to Tama, look at the wall behind the large bowl to see what kind of brush stroke you need to make when asked. When you get it right, the bombs will go off and you will need to make two more stars on the constellation in the sky. When you do, you will get the cherry bomb brush. Use it on the test crack and grab the statue from the chest inside. Head back out and up the hill to the left of the cave to the Agata Forest to find another crack to blow up. If it is day, head back to the field and visit the things you haven’t yet like the dojo and the devil gates and then head back to the village to talk to Mr. Orange up on the sacred deck. After his dance, he will tell you that the trees need to be turned back to their original state. Look for the 21 black trees that have a white rope around them and use the GreenSprout on them to turn them back.

Once you have turned them all back to normal trees, go back to talk to Mr. Orange and he will have another scene for you. Each time you the brush screen appears, draw a circle around the buds to make them blossom. Once you do it three or four times, another scene will play and you will need to place the stars in another constellation. When you do, you will get the Water Lilly Brush. Use it after the scene and bonk the chest to get the sun fragment out of it. Now you can head back through the valley and up the hill to get to the Agata Forest.

Agata Forest

When you reach the cave entrance, stand on the dock and draw lily pads on the water and jump one to the next until you reach the end. Hop up on the ledge and draw a bomb at the crack and go through. Once you are in, head to the right and go down the hill and down the stairs to the bottom. Enter the cave on the right and enter the house there to talk to Madame fawn. Leave there after you pay her the 500 yen to hear your future and about the sapling in the cave and leave the cave. Follow the path below the torches to the right of the stairs and it will lead you around to a cave. Enter it and use the holy bomb to blow up the crack. Enter there and use the Greensprout on the sapling to revive it. Pop open the chest there to get the sub weapon and equip it. Head out of the cave and across the water and a scene should play with waka. After the scene, you’ll square off against him. Use your new weapon to sting him from afar and use your shield to block his throws. Jump when he gets to close and attacks and watch for him to turn grey so you can slash with your brush. After the battle, jump across the lake and talk to the boy there about Tsuta Ruins. After you talk to him, you will need to play the fishing mini game. Just follow the instructions and after the third fish you catch, you will get the key to the ruins. Pick it up and look on your map for the temple entrance. Head there and use the key on the chest and bop it a second time to get a scroll for enhancing weapons.

Tsuta ruins

Enter the cave and watch the scene. Head to the right and bump the nuts back at the trees that throw them at you along the way. Enter the door at the end and enter the next room. Continue through to the next and jump across and up the ledges until you come to a room with a round stone in the middle of the path. Head past it and you will run into a not so nice creature. Let it attack and try to get out of its way when it does. After a little while, you will be told to use the greensprout brush on it and then attack it. Do so and have at it and it will die in no time. After the battle, head back up to the round rock and push it down the path to the button at the bottom. When it lands on it, the door to the left will open. Enter there and you will square off against two more creatures like you just fought. Kill them the same way and then a scene will play with mushrooms on a log.

Look to the sky and draw a sun and the shrooms will grow. Use them as ledges and bounce up to the top. Follow the path around to a crack and use the holy bomb to get through. Continue through and you will come to a long winding path. Head across and Issun will sneeze causing the place to fall apart. Jump past the crack and you will come to another path. Follow it to the door at the end and it will be a big creepy that is locked. Fall to the ground and blockhead will be blocking the doorway there. Tackle him and then use your brush on the spots pointed out. When he crumbles, grab the key in the center and climb up the logs to the eye door at the top. Use the key on the door and go through. You will next come to a broken bridge that you need to rebuild with your brush. Do so and cross and save there.

Enter the next room and kill the enemies there and another mushroom patch will appear. Draw a sun in the sky and hop on the shrooms to the ledge at the top. Follow the path there and use your power slash on the pots at the end that are pouring out the poison. Once the scene plays, jump down and follow the water to the next waterfall and jump off it. When you hit the ground, head for the shining light in the center of the room and enter. Now you will need to clean up three cursed spots and the flower in the center will open. Once it does, draw the two stars on the constellation there and you will get the third and final flora brush power. Now you can draw vines when you see an open flower and get propelled to it. Draw lines from the flowers to you until you reach the top and go through the door there. Follow the flowers up again until you reach the top of the statue and then you will need to draw vines from the flowers to the hooks there. If you draw a line to the wrong hook, use the slash to cut them. When all four are hooked, jump in the center that opens. Power Slash all the statues and save before heading through the door there. Follow the long tunnel to the room at the end and enter the large doors there. When you enter, the Spider queen will have a few words with you and then attack. To defeat her, you will need to draw some vines from the flowers to the hooks that are on the spiders butt.

When you have two attached, the spiders butt will open and his eyes will be exposed. Use the power slash to attack them. You will need to slash them a good five or so times until it is finally defeated. Once it is, a scene will play and you will have yourself a fancy new weapon. Once the scene is over and you are back in Agata forest, head over to Taka Pass and find kokari and Ume where he is trying to rebuild the bridge. Acenen will play with Susano and you will need to latch vines to the log. For some reason when you draw the vines, they wouldn’t catch if you did it too fast. Draw the line from the flower to the hook and let the brush stay on the hook for a few seconds. Once you have all six, another scene will play. Head across the bridge once it is over and enter Taka Pass.

Taka Pass

Once you enter taka pass, have a conversation with the people there and then head up the path and go the left. Blow the crack there and enter the cave to come and find Waka again. Fight him using the same techniques as before, but this time you will need to slash him when he misses his attacks. Afterwards, watch the scene and then run up the stairs and through the cave. Head to the right at the top and bring the black trees back to life on your way to the bridge there. Use the brush on the bridge to restore it and then cross to the guardian sapling. Restore it as well and then head down the path to Kusa Village.

Kusa Village

When you enter the village, the gloom within it will start to drain your ink from you. Make you way up the path and the left will lead you to Susano and mr. Bamboo. Listen to what they say and then head back to the split and go right. Before you come to the windmill bridge, go straight and talk to Princess Fuse there. You will enter a battle and when it is over, you will get the Canine tracker to search for 5 dogs in the village. You ink will return to you now and you will need to search out the other dogs. One will be up the ladder by Susano through a crack you need to blow open, one by mr. Bamboo’s house in the glowing stalk that you can use power slash to open. One to the right of the center of town where you will need to clear the curse out of the garden, and the fourth will be up the half ladder on the way to where Fuse was.

Use the vine brush on the flower at the top to get there and hop through the tunnel at the end of the walkway. Use meat feed bags on all of them to get them to go to Fuse and then you will need to go there when the fourth dog is released. When you get to where fuse was, the fifth dog Tei will want to fight. Do so and he will be simple to beat. When he glows, he will charge so get out of the way. When he stands still, whip him until he goes grey and then power slash. Rinse and repeat until he is down. When the scene is over, you will need to find three more dogs that have been marked on your map. Head out of the village but grab some meat if you need it. Head straight forward to the gate there and it will take you to sasa sanctuary if you go through it. Do so and you will talk to the Sparrow clan inside. They will tell you the bosses daughter has been kidnapped. Head back out and head off the side of the cliff down to the house there. Mr. and Mrs. Cutter will be around and will attack you.

Enter the house and Mrs. Cutter will tell you that moonlight is their weakness. Head outside and around the back and up the log to the roof of their house. Use a bomb to blow the boards open and enter the house again. Bite Mrs. Cutter and drag her over to the moonlight and a battle will start. Use the power slash to drop them out of the sky and then two power slashes on each to give them damage. Once they are dead, talk to Chun. She will follow you, so take her back to the Sanctuary and talk to Big Daddy. Head up stairs and into the elevator and talk to Jamba. Take all the treasure and head back down stairs and to the hallway on the right. Enter the springs and talk to the bath attendant and Mr. Bamboo. When you do, a mini game will play where you need to lead Mr. Bamboo to the bottom of a puzzle. Use your brush techniques to make getting through a lot easier. Once you get him to the bottom, a scene will play and the spring will fill with water. Now another scene will play and you will need to draw three stars on a constellation. When you do, you will get the water sprout brush. Try it out like you are told and then draw line under the mouth of the bamboo tube from the water to it. The gate will open and you can go through.

Get the Three Dogs

Follow the path and talk to the bird there and he will tell you he lost his dog. Continue down the path and you will come to some trees that will light up. Slash a tree when it does light and Gi, the next dog will come out. A scene will play and you will need to battle him like you did the Tei. Use the same moves and he will drop in no time. Once he is down, head back to the spring and talk to Mr. Bamboo and he will give you a coin that you can use to travel from one spring to another. Head to Agata Forest through the spring and make your way to the right to find Kushi. Talk to her and then fill the bucket with water three times. After you do, another scene will play and Susano will show up. Use your power slash to kill the enemies for him and then continue on your way. Find Kokani on a small island fishing and you will need to play the fishing game again to catch the Whopper.

When you finally do, ANOTHER scene will play and you will need to draw a constellation. Now you will have the cresent brush and can turn day to night just like night to day with the sun brush. Once that scene is over, you will then be in a battle with Ume or Jin as he is now called. The battle is the same as the others except this time Ume will dig large holes and drop explosive turds. After the battle Ume will give you his orb and you are off to find the last dog. Head back to the spring and make your way to Shinshu Field and into Kamiki village. Talk to Hayabusa, the ex-turnip champ and he will either fight or tell you to come back at night. If it is day, turn it to night and fight. The battle will be the same as the other dogs so whoop his ass and continue. Now head back to he spring in Shinshu Field and head to the Sanctuary. From here, head back to Kusa Village and talk to Fuse

Kusa Village

When you reach the village, head up the path to where you talked to Fuse before. Enter her house and talk to her. After the scene and your fancy new bling bling head out of the house and up the path to the right of it. Enter the Gale Shrine and you will find Susano there. Talk to him and then head to the barrier and talk to Yatsu. After the conversation, enter the cave and take the passage to the right. When you enter, the devil gate will be right in front of you. Enter it and a large tea pot looking monkey will attack. Use bomb brushes and power slashes and it will be dead in three hits. Once it is, you will get an arrow to open the locked door in the next room across the wooden platforms. Poke the eye and go through the door.

When you enter the small room, draw a bomb on the floor and it will rise up. Get off when it stops and kill the enemy there. Grab the arrow after the fight and go through the door to the center again. Drop down and place a bomb in the center and wait for it to go up. When it does, place another bomb and it will go up again. Use the arrow on the door there and then head outside. Go to the right and use the stairs to climb to the top of he windmill. When you are there, you will need to draw the wind in the reverse direction that it is blowing. Do that three times and the windmill will start cranking again. When it does, another constellation will appear. Now you will have the wind brush to blow. Use it to open the door and hop across the opening to get the chest there with the second sun fragment. Go down to the chest that is on fire at the bottom of the stairs. Use the wind on it and grab your goodies. Continue down to the next chest and then out at the bottom.

Enter the room with the wooden walkways and you will need to turn the platform to the hallway with the chest in it. View the windmills from the side and use the wind brush to blow them. When they spin, the platform will move. Move it to the entrance with the chest and go through. Continue down the hall and grab the chests by using the wind brush and the vine brush with the flowers. When you come to the large banners on the left side, go up to the top ledge and you will need to blow wind that will cause the banners to float up. Press R1 and then turn the camera around so you can see the back of the curtains. Draw a wind sign and the curtains will lift.

Jump across the first two quickly and then repeat for the second two. Jump down and you can save there before entering the doors. Enter when ready and go through the gold gate and you will see the Serpent Crystal. As you approach, the battle with Crimson Helm will start. To defeat this baddie, all you really need to do is the same as all the other enemies so far. Stay away from his attacks; which will be charging and shooting out flames, and then attack him when he is turned. Once you hit him enough times, his armor will fall off and he will be bones. Use the wind brush to blow out his flames and then use power slash and quick hits to do some major damage to him. You will need to knock off his armor two or three times depending on how much ink you have.

Once you have knocked him down, another scene with Susano will play and you will need to do some brush work for him. Chop the eight heads of the fire Orochi and then when Susano winds up for his final attack on Crimson helm, blow wind in it three times. Susano will attack him without you and another scene will play where you receive a new weapon. Another scene will play and you’ll need to head out of the Shrine. After your talk with Fuse, make your way out oft eh village but stop at the windmill in the center of town to give it a wind brush and get it working. Head out of the village to the sanctuary and use the spring to go to Shimshu Field and Kamiki Village. When you enter an incredibly long scene will play and then you will need to head out of the village and talk to Kushi. Head to the Moon cave with her and another long scene will play with Waka.
