Once Sam is safe, find one of the large dump trucks. You’re going to drive into the Ore Processing Plant (High Importance Target), and I do mean into it. Rockets and bombs are great, but never underestimate the value of vehicular destruction. Vehicles save ammunition, provide armor, and can often destroy a building in half the time. Besides, dropping a truck off a cliff is much more fun than lobbing grenades. The final mission in Parker is coming up, so finish any Guerilla Actions that might disappear once the sector is liberated and continue destroying EDF property until the control-meter has reached zero.

Red Faction Order – Start Your Engines

What did I tell you about vehicles? Around the third or fourth smashed sensor, when I imagine you’re feeling pretty confident, is when the EDF will throw the whole shebang and then some at you. The road will split about that same time. Try to avoid stopping or swapping vehicles unless absolutely necessary. Take a left (north) and plot a counterclockwise course from sensor to sensor and across a massive gap, Dukes of Hazard style.

You liberated your first sector. Don’t forget to get your rewards at the Upgrade Table in your new safe house.

Dust

Dust has an abundance of unmarked Guerilla Actions that will only be available around certain times and locations, so keep an ear on your radio. Some seem to cycle continuously while others appear once per day. Dust also marks the first appearance of Marauders. These primal warriors are far more skilled in combat than the EDF soldiers, and defeating them may yield a gnarly polearm and a shotgun. Both items will appear in your locker from that point on.

Head north into the area with the wind turbines. You will receive orders to destroy them, but don’t do anything yet. You’re going to get a new toy first. Approaching the area, stop at the first four-way intersection and locate the EDF warehouse (Medium Importance Target) nearby to the northeast. Ignore the soldiers and get inside to find one of the baddest vehicles in the game – the combat walker. If you still need the One Man Army Achievement (complete 25 killing sprees), now is the time to get it. Just watch out for your fellow Guerillas in the ensuing massacre.

Let’s keep this mechanized momentum going. You should have passed and revealed the Dust Town Hall (High Importance Target), southeast of the turbines. The place is more like a fortress than a town hall, but there is a secret to level the field, literally. There is a small hole carved in the cliffs across the street and west of the driveway entrance. Walk in and grab yet another walker. This one doesn’t have missiles, but it will tear through any building or vehicle you put in front of it. Now, get to work on the Hall.

You have taken a nice chunk of control away from the EDF and gave the Red Faction a hefty boost of morale. Feel free to head out in search of ore, Guerilla Actions, etc.

Red Faction Order – Rallying Point

I highly recommend equipping a rocket launcher. Head toward the rally point, but go on top of the bridge instead of below. With explosives, you can bring the bridge down upon the heads of the EDF soldiers below. Destroying the speakers around the quarry is a simple task with the rocket launcher, but not impossible without. Use the protection of vehicles to your advantage and only step out when guerrilla reinforcements have arrived to draw some of the fire away from you. And be careful to not drive off the ledges. For the final section, grab a fresh vehicle and follow the arrows to Gunnarsen’s location. You need to ram his vehicle until he decides to flee on foot. That is when you strike.

Red Faction Order – Industrial Revolution

Now that you’re a walker-operating pro, this mission should be a snap. Ignore the EDF and drive directly to the warehouse where the walker is located, break in, and board the machine. You can head toward the street, but you are likely to encounter more EDF vehicles. Instead, have a little fun and carve a path through the complex until you reach the transport. While protecting the walker on the ride home, keep the rockets flowing and watch the temperature gauge so that you don’t overheat.

Red Faction Order – Ultor Echo

After entering Badlands, cautiously follow the Maruader through the canyons and the holographic rocks. You can stop to mine, although this area will be accessible later as well. The base ahead is a short maze of rubble. You need to find the Artifact, and you will know it when you see it. Once you have it, you can avoid most of the encroaching EDF soldiers by carving a path with your hammer. There is a massive battle outside. Ignore it and hijack any vehicle to escape.

Red Faction Order – Ashes to Ashes

The EDF is bombing the Town of Dust. Move quickly, because it is possible to die, or have one of the survivors (objectives) get hit by debris. Survivors do not need to be escorted as they do in Guerilla Actions. The second and third sections of this mission will take you along the Badlands border, and the Marauders are out for blood. For now, it’s best if you try to ignore them whenever possible and focus on your objectives.

Badlands

Although you are free to enter Oasis and perform missions, I suggest liberating Badlands first to unlock the Level 2 Armor. Despite the posh surroundings, Oasis is a dangerous neighborhood. You should also consider putting any hunts for Radio Tags on hold until you have unlocked the Jetpack and Radiation Shielding.

The first thing to do is get some shopping done. The Nano Forge, which becomes the Nano Rifle, will likely be a mainstay in your inventory until the credits roll. Get the upgrades for the Nano Rifle and it will melt almost anything like butter in a nuclear reactor. It is also in your best interest to leave the Control Tower (Medium Importance Target) untouched until further notice.
