Red Faction Order – The Dogs of War
The bossman says, “You have to think like a sniper to find a sniper.” Chances are good that their bullets will find you first. If you can’t get to the roofs of the first snipers, bring the roofs down to you. The buildings are extremely brittle and collapse with very little effort. You can bypass many EDF soldiers on your way to the next objective by crossing the diagonal bridge to the north and jetting your way up the cliff behind the monument. This gives you a good vantage point for a long-range attack. You can also fly over to the rooftops to get up close and personal. Horizontal hammer-strikes to the ridges of the roofs have a cascading effect, sending concrete down on the snipers in the floors below.
You will want a Thermobaric Rocket for the next Red Faction Order, so if you’re short on funds, this is a good time to sign up for Guerilla Actions and demolish EDF property. Leave the bigger targets alone, and if you come across a walker at a construction site, save it for later.
Red Faction Order – Death by Committee
Bring the Thermobaric Rocket. Skip the vehicle and jet across the roofs and cliffs to keep the advantage of height. There is a ridge due west from the meeting place that you want to arrive at. From there, you should be able to look into the meeting place and see some of your targets. One Thermobaric Rocket is all it takes to dispose of most, if not all of the opposition.
After completing Death by Committee, investigate the northwest corner of the construction site to find a light walker. Make your way over to the Hendrix Hall (High Importance Target) and do your thing, but don’t stop there. Get over to the Eos Memorial Bridge (High Importance Target) if you can. The bridge is one of the sturdiest structures in the game. I went through 30 Remote Charges and 20 shots from the Nano Rifle and barely scratched the bridge. A walker, or possibly a Thermobaric Rocket, is exactly what you need. There is a combat walker at the Medium Importance Target north of the Martian Council that is up for grabs. Unfortunately, bringing it back down to the city intact can get a little tricky.
Red Faction Order – Hammer of the Gods
It’s time to prepare for the ultimate battle, or so you think. When you have to rescue Sam, you can save yourself a lot of trouble if you ignore some of the arrows and drive directly to her workshop.
After completing Hammer of the Gods and acquiring your new base of operations in the Irradiated Zone, more Red Faction Orders will be available back in Eos.
Eos (round two)
Red Faction Order – Emergency Broadcast System
It’s in your best interest to keep a low profile after picking up Sam, which driving through the front-entrance barricades won’t achieve. With patience and careful maneuvering, you can actually drive a small car through the civilian skywalks to the south. Once inside the compound, stick to the right and follow the winding road up the hill. At the station, it is extremely important that you keep the EDF soldiers away from the building. They have Singularity Bombs. Deal with the APCs and watch to see where the EDF soldiers approach from. You can then get proactive by sprinting back and forth between the two points to stop the soldiers before they even have a chance to see the station.
Red Faction Order – Manual Override
You’re supposed to be the savior of Mars, and yet, you keep getting thrown on bodyguard duty. This is the easiest gig yet. Dispose of the light security detail and log into the artillery system for some top-down shooting. Keep your crosshairs ahead of the truck and you will get the jump on all but a few opponents. Although I probably don’t need to say it, friendly fire is bad.
Red Faction Order – Guerillas At The Gates
Drive through the force-field and make your way up to the first target. The core is highly explosive, so don’t get too elaborate. Get in any vehicle, drive through the gates of Central Command, and keep going until you reach the combat walker (who could get sick of these?). It probably won’t last long, but it will help you get into safer territory. Immediately after acquiring the walker, enter the foothills and wind your way to the next objective, which is another explosive power station. Watch for flyers and take them out ASAP. There is another combat walker waiting in the area. Grab it, step forward, and shove those missiles down the EDF’s throat.

Red Faction Order – Mars Attacks
The first part of this mission is another top-down shooting segment. Instead of protecting a friendly target, your goal is to keep every EDF vehicle from passing. There are three sections and the vehicles move left-to-right and bottom-to-top. Immediately scroll all the way left, and fire as soon as you see a vehicle. Starting all the way over will give you a moment to pan over in case you miss a shot.
The next section is harder than any encounter you have had thus far, exponentially amplified, and invisible walls ensure that you won’t find any shortcuts with the jetpack. Once your tank hits the bottom of the hill, expect a constant barrage of gunfire, explosions, and kamikaze APCs from every angle. Take out enemies from a distance, and make any target with a Gauss gun a priority. Never let a vehicle explode next to you. It is very likely that you will have to abandon the tank at some point and you will end up on foot, at which point, any vehicle you climb into will almost surely be blown apart within a few seconds. Do not try to flee across open terrain when this happens. You need to give yourself a little breathing room. Stay in cover and let the enemy vehicles come to you. When one stops, sprint directly up to the side. It’s the one place that you won’t get hit. Take out the gunner, and the driver if there is a separate one. Repeat this process if there are numerous adversaries in the area. When you get a break, hop in and hit the gas.
Nearing the top of the hill you will be forced to leave your vehicle and proceed on foot. Along the way, you will encounter bands of Marauders battling EDF foot-soldiers. Give them a hand, because there is strength in numbers. That, and they will suck up some of the gunfire. There is a Rail Driver available to pick up along the way in case you need an appropriate weapon to deal with General Roth and his massive tank. Both the Rail Driver and the Arc Welder will disregard the armor and cut straight to the man inside. Barring those, you can always count on Thermobaric Rockets to blow just about anything apart.
Congratulations. Mars is a free world, for now.
