NCAA Basketball 10 Developer Q&A
We get some inside info on EA's upcoming college basketball game from Producer Connor Dougan.

In Dynasty Mode can you play any game you wish even if your team isn't involved? If I want to play UNC vs. Duke even if I control Ohio State -- can I do that?

This is something we couldn’t get to. We wanted to focus on our major gameplay and presentation features and make sure we could deliver the highest level of quality and polish possible (the two game areas that affect everyone and would make a dynasty useless if not done properly) The time we did spend time on dynasty was focused on community raised issues like: sorting recruits screen, 5 star recruits, some UI enhancments... and most importantly the improvement to the sim engine which keeps the future years of the dynasty mode true to life.

What sort of multiplayer does the game support? Can we run multiplayer dynasties, tournaments, or just one-off games?

We only have one vs one online and offline games.

Are there any other features that make NCAA Basketball 10 stand out this year?

The Toughest Places to Play feature is new this year and really brings the game day atmosphere to the next level from last year's game. 20 of the top schools in the NCAA have been ranked as “Toughest places to play”. The feature is about controlling the momentum of the home team and punishing you when you don’t. It also has a great dynasty tie in where people can build up their program into one of the toughest places to play.

Dynamic Updates is another new feature where we get live stats from ESPN like the top 25, RPI and team stats. The stats updates will have an effect on team ratings and surfaces up to date national rankings, conference standings and team stats every week in the Dynamic Update Hub and in game. With Dynamic updates we also give the user new plays and new offenses every week. These two features are nice differentiators from Live and bring in elements of college atmosphere and information that are keys to maintaining authenticity over the course of a season.

I'd like to extend a thanks to Connor for taking the time to speak with us. NCAA Basketball 10 hits stores November 17th on the PS3 and Xbox 360.
