WCG 07 Begins
World Cyber Games kicks off in Seattle.

The World Cyber Games officially kicks off the 2007 Grand Final today with the opening ceremony scheduled for 6pm at Qwest Field in Seattle, WA. A record 700 players from 74 countries will join in on the festivities, highlighted by an Olympic style ceremony featuring flag bearing by participating countries, speeches by WCG personnel and Washington Lieutenant Governor Brad Owen, and concluding with the reading of the oath of fair play.

Over the course of the weekend, the World Cyber Games will offer spectators a variety of interactive activities to enjoy, including the 'WCG 2007 Samsung Mobile Challenge', hands on gaming stations to try out the latest and greatest Xbox 360 and Games for Windows titles (including the highly anticipated Rock Band), WCG Circuit City Mobile Coach, WCG Photo Zone by Samsung Digital Camera, PC cleaning session by Dust-Off, WCG 2007 Thermaltake Player's Lounge and much more. Giveaways of Xbox 360 consoles, Samsung monitors, MP3 players, and digital cameras represent just some of the many exciting prizes available to attendees of the event.

Additionally, on October 6th, there will be a workshop on 'Women in Gaming' at the Educational Track of WCG, held by DigiPen Institute of Technology,from 10 AM. Speakers from companies such as Microsoft, Gas Powered Games, Valve, Wizards of the Coast among others will explore the development of games from four different perspectives (Programming, Design, Art/Sound and Production). These seminars, as well as all activities at the Educational Tracks, are free of charge to anyone attending the WCG 2007 Grand Final.
