EA and Marvel Part Ways
Second Marvel fighting game cancelled
Date: Monday, January 28, 2008
Author: Jeff 'Judasen' McAllister

It was announced today that EA and Marvel have decided to part ways and that the follow up game to their first collaboration, Marvel Nemesis: Rise of the Imperfects, was no longer in the works. Although it was speculated to have happened after the closure of EA Chicago, the two companies confirmed it today by both releasing statements. EA has come out to say that the decision was based on their “portfolio strategy”, while Marvel made a similar statement saying that they "have jointly agreed to discontinue development of Marvel fighting games under the Electronic Arts brand” and that the move "will not affect Marvel's ongoing plans to release fighting games based on the Marvel properties in the future."
