During its TGS press conference this week Sony revealed that its worldwide installed user base - or roughly how many systems it has sold to date - has reached 51.8 million. On the PlayStation Portable side of things, the company claims to have sold 41.4 million units globally.

For the sake of comparison, by June 3 Xbox 360 unit sales were at 55 million, while the Nintendo DS had sold 147.9 million and the Wii had sold 87.57 million by the end of July.

Still, 51.8 million isn't anything to be ashamed of, I suppose.
