Konami Digital Entertainment today announced that Contra 4 is now available for purchase online at most major carriers, including AT&T Mobility, T-Mobile and Verizon Wireless. The new version of this classic game is being released under Konami Mobile’s development strategy of creating original content specifically for the mobile platform. Marking the 20th anniversary of the legendary franchise, Konami is also launching a month-long sweepstakes in honor of the classic title. Consumers on all carriers can text (c4) to 566264 and be entered to win a Nintendo Wii, a brand new mobile phone or great Konami console titles - just in time for the holidays.

In addition to classic character Bill Rizer, Contra 4 introduces a new playable character by the name of Solomon Caesar to the action-adventure franchise. Caesar is the first user-generated character to be included in a Konami game, stemming from a fan’s winning entry in the recent 2007 Contra character design contest. Also featuring newly designed weapons and an even more persistent enemy faction, Contra 4 promises to deliver an excellent mission for the mobile platform.
