Buena Vista Games E3 Report

In the game, picking up fallen items are very important, as certain items will give you more lives. You will need to have a lot of them to make it to the higher levels, since with each explosion it sacrifices one of your lives. Some of the bonus items will increase your speed, or just give you an overall point total, which is a major factor in the game. There are also boss battles -- shockingly -- where you will need to create chains of a certain length to defeat them. It will take multiple chains though, so it will be quite entertaining and difficult. This feels like it could be very addictive, so it will be one of the games to look out for. I even spent a good deal of time just playing it, because of this fact.

Finally… Behind closed doors BVG was showing the trailer for the resurrected Turok series. Rescued from limbo after the demise of Acclaim, the new Turok is a slightly more modern take on the franchise. Turok is his old Native-American self, but now he is a soldier in what looks like a near-future war. The trailer indicated that Turok will have access to a number of different weapons... including a compound-pull bow. Oh yes, and there will be some big dinosaurs.

Since this was strictly a rendered trailer, there was no way to really judge game play, beyond it being a first-person shooter. Naturally the finished presentation quality is a complete unknown. But developer Propaganda Games has a lot more time before the scheduled 2007 launch on PS3 and Xbox 360, so there should be a lot more information reaching these pages before the title sees store shelves.

This concludes the more adult games coming out from BVG. BVG also showcased a lot of interesting titles for the younger crowd set featuring many of Disney's top TV and film franchises including Disney Princess: Royal Adventure (GBA), Disney's American Dragon: Jake Long, Attack of the Dark Dragon (DS, GBA), Disney's Chicken Little: Ace in Action (DS, PS2, Wii) Disney's Kim Possible: Global Gemini (DS), Disney's Kim Possible: What's the Switch? (PS2), Disney's Little Einsteins (GBA), Disney's Meet the Robinsons (DS, GBA, PS2, Wii), Disney's The Little Mermaid: Ariel's Undersea Adventure (DS), Hannah Montana (DS), Phil of the Future (GBA), Spectrobes (DS), Suite Life of Zack & Cody (DS, GBA), That's So Raven: Psychic on the Scene (DS), The Cheetah Girls (GBA), W.I.T.C.H. (GBA) and Walt Disney Pictures Presents The Santa Clause 3 (GBA). While some may frown on these kids titles, there's no denying that BVG has a wide selection of gamers that youngsters will want when they ship later this year and into 2007. BVG also has the more adult geared Desperate Housewives for the PC (based on the wildly popular ABC TV show) and an updated version of the Lumines franchise for the PS2 called Lumines Plus in th wings. - Gordon Edward (with an assist by Will Jayson Hill for Turok).
