The Silent Hill Experience is a cool compilation that offers some unique multimedia that ties into the theatrical film release. In this package, which by the way is only available on UMD format and only playable via a PSP, includes a cool digital comic book, a soundtrack compilation from various games and trailer collection.

The entire package is set up just like a DVD or a UMD movie release, complete with fancy menus and DVD functions. The content itself is divided up into four sections - comic books, interviews, music, and trailers. The tales that these digital comic books (Dying Inside and a brand new story called The Hunger) weave are rich and ties into both the film and the games that fans have already fallen in love with around the world. The stories, which play out as a comic book is expected to (with crisp stills with a dash of creepiness) do a great job of reminding players what the whole series is all about and give a taste of the film's dark storyline.

On the music front, The Silent Hill Experience package features a plethora of tracks from all of the games released thus far including Silent Hill, Silent Hill 2, Silent Hill 3 and Silent Hill 4. The music included in this compilation alone is worth the price of admission, offering the main themes from each game along with a bunch of select tracks that fans will recognize immediately. There are a total of 20 tracks, which were created by series composer Akira Yamaoka.

The package also includes the original trailers created for all four games, which are a great addition to the nostalgic feel of this package. Finally Konami's multimedia release offers a ton of interviews with folks like Silent Hill film director Christophe Gans and Silent Hill series composer Akira Yamaoka. If you're fanatical about this series then these interviews will prove to be icing on the cake.

Ultimately The Silent Hill Experience is a must-buy for fans of the series and an interesting extension to what the film portrays. If you own a PSP and are a die hard Silent Hill fan, than this little UMD is worth a purchase - and at the very least - a rental. It will be interesting to see how much of this content (if any) from The Silent Hill Experience will make it into the DVD release of the film, but for now it's only available on your PSP…
