What I really like is how zombies will smash through doors to get to you. This shows that they are actively searching for any person they can to devour. They are also sound activated, so if you do something like fire a round off with a gun, they will go in your direction. It is great to close these doors so that you can hear them when they are coming up from behind you, but when you close them you find yourself on the receiving end of a bite, when running away from them. This can happen at any time, like if you just half hazardly pass by a room, without going inside of it. You may find a zombie on your tail, just when you locate a den of these beasts.
Another neat thing is that through out the game you will find bodies just laying on the ground. Some of them will spring back to life, which is a fantastic touch for the game. Some of them will stand up and howl to their colleagues, which will pull them all from other rooms. You may find yourself being chased down by five zombies, which really can freak you out.
This game also sports online multiplayer which does spring additional life to the rounding ten hours of storyline. You have the option of playing Invasion, Deathmatch, team Deathmatch, and capture the flag. In invasion you try and kill the most zombies possible within a set period of time. In Deathmatch and team Deathmatch, you try and destroy the other team, including a few zombies. Capture the flag, is more like capture the bag, as you try and take a duffle bag. All and all it is pretty nice to play through, but it felt a little lacking.
While the game is not exactly polished when it comes to objects like cars, the dreadful cornfield, and the fire, most of the things look nice, but a little blocky. The game does try to creep you out and it does do a good job at that. I wish there were larger groups of zombies that would need to be killed on screen, to increase the feeling of panic. This game is also just a movie game, so it suffered greatly on that front, but is much better than the average movie game. I believe the personal satisfaction I got from playing the game would be different then what most people would feel when playing it, so I will give a grade based upon that. All and all Captain Gordon gives this game... a C+.
