Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII Review
10 out of 15
Vincent's solo adventure shooter proves to be fun, but not necessarily enjoyable for hardcore fans of the juggernaut series on which it is based.

In the end the North American version of Dirge of Cerberus does what it set out to do: tell Vincent's story in intricate detail. Fans of Final Fantasy VII will probably be interested in hearing and seeing this tale played out in the cutscenes and dialogue peppered throughout the game. Similarly, if you stripped out all the Final Fantasy VII trappings, the shooter action in the game stands up fairly well on its own. The problem really is that most Final Fantasy Fans won't be interested in the game's core gameplay. For the rest of us Dirge of Cerebus is still a compelling and unique gameplay experience worth checking out - and at the very least worth a rental. - James Fudge.
