Gamers DVD Review

The Suck's not on this comedy about five role-playing losers going nowhere fast...
Date: Friday, September 29, 2006
Author: James Fudge

You have to admire the strong independent spirit of Gamers and the work that had to go into getting SAG actors to work on this low budget project. The mockumentary style of the film is sold and delivered perfectly, the flashback sequences were inserted in a way that doesn't distract from the main story and the pacing is flawless. Gamers is as good as any big budget comedy that hit theaters in 2006. You also have to appreciate that this film was shot in a mere 6 days, an incredible accomplishment that most films aren't capable of accomplishing. In the end Gamers proves to be a funny film that real world gamers can appreciate. While many non-gamers will get a few laughs from the film, the bulk of the comedy focuses on inside jokes that D&D fans will get a kick out of. - James Fudge.

Editor's note: Because Gamers is an independent film you'll have to visit the film's home page at www.buygamers.com to learn how to buy it. Beyond the film, the site offers some great insider information, and some extra merchandise related to the film. Now if I could just get some MP3's of Kevin's songs in the film, I could die a happy man.
