NFL Street 3 Review
7 out of 15
This game makes Blitz look like Madden.
Date: Monday, December 04, 2006
Author: Dan Clarke

The power gamebreaker moves including jumping sky high while on defense to make an interception or while on offense creating a sort of earthquake juke move, knocking the nearby defenders to the ground so you can run free. You can also offset an offensive gamebreaker with a defensive one if you time it correctly.

The Respect The Street mode is where you’ll spend most of your time. In this mode you’ll have to satisfy certain challenges across the USA in different venues to earn respect points. You’ll lose respect points if you fail. The venues are interesting enough – most have walls to make wall running available. You then use these points for unlockable items.

The music isn’t anything to write home about – as usual it’s the EA Trax and it’s very heavy on rap. There is some in game trash talk, which adds to the atmosphere. There is also online play where you can play mini games as well as a regular game and even a leaderboard; however there are no leagues.

The game’s only other competition is last year’s Blitz: The League and I have to say that I’d rather be playing Blitz. The graphics are better, the story line is better and, dare I say it, the game feels more “realistic” to me. I realize I’m calling a no rules arcade football game realistic, but the whole wall walking thing in Street is just crazy.

The NFL Street series has its fans – but I’m falling off the bandwagon this time. If you really liked the second one, you’ll probably enjoy this one…however if you had your doubts in the past, this one will just make it worse. Wait for the bargain bin on this one.
