Wario Ware: Smooth Moves Review
13 out of 15
Even though it’s the same basic idea as the other games, there’s a lot new to Wario Ware: Smooth Moves that makes it better than ever.

After you have cleared a level, you can go back and play it again, but it won’t be in story mode – instead it’s more of a how many levels can you clear before you do sort of thing. You can unlock some mini-games – there’s a castle tennis game that’s quite addictive, for example, but the focus is on the microgames.

There is no pattern to the microgames – although you may see a microgame more than once, you’ll never know what to expect it—each game is different.

The graphics are acceptable – everything looks good and the sound is very addictive. The one “cheerleader” level really gets you going trying to clear those games!

If I did have one bone to pick, it’s with the controls..I found some games rather difficult – specifically anything with the elephant pose – however I noticed that you didn’t really have to put the controller on your nose to play the game and I figured it out. Another beef is that since you only have 2 or 3 seconds for each microgames before you are given the ‘fail’ message, you better know what you are doing to succeed. Sometimes you’re better off just waving the controller like a madman and hoping for the best if you don’t have a clue.

There is no online (how great would it have been to download additional microgames), but there is hot seat multiplayer after you unlock it by finishing story mode. There are cute multiplayer games, like darts, and there is also survival mode. Survival was difficult to play because by the time you undo the wrist strap, redo the wrist strap and figure out what ‘way’ you have to hold the controller, the microgame had already started. The players do not get to play the same game – each player has a random microgame..so if your friend isn’t very good at “shave” but you have “shave” , you can guess that he won’t get it. It has it’s moments, but my advice is to just stick with the single player modes and try to beat each other’s survival score. Seeing your Mii as an angel in multiplayer is rather funny though!

It was expected that this game would be a lot of fun on the Wii, and it doesn’t disappoint. The game’s story mode is relatively easy – you can finish it in less than a full afternoon, but the fun doesn’t end there. The replay value is through the roof as every game you play will be different and always enjoyable. There’s no doubt that this game belongs in your Wii library.
