NCAA March Madness 07 Review
7 out of 15
March Madness is better than NBA Live, but that’s not saying much, is it?

Then there’s recruiting – the lifeblood of any great college sports game. Unfortunately, the ball is dropped here as well. Even though EA Sports manages to put in some cool features like School Spirit, the interface makes recruiting a complete nightmare. It’s an example of how missing a couple of everyday features can ruin an entire portion of a game. In March Madness, you cannot sort players by state, and you cannot sort players by early interest level. So you’re stuck literally cycling through hundreds of recruits that may have your school in his initial top three or looking to see if he is in your pipeline state. What should take about three seconds to do by pressing a button becomes a tedious exercise of pressing down on your gamepad…over…and over again. This problem in effect ruins recruiting. It just flat out ruins it because who has time to sort through that many players? It’s completely ridiculous.

In the end, March Madness is still playing second fiddle to 2K’s college basketball game. If you have College Hoops and enjoy it, you really should fight the urge to spend a few bucks even on a rental of March Madness 07. It just doesn’t hold up well, and is nowhere near as deep or as enjoyable as its competition. - William Abner
