UEFA, for those of you who don’t know stands for the Union of European Football Associations. No, this is not football as in football, but rather soccer for those still confused. The whole purpose of the UEFA is to be the administrating and governing committee for European Football. It represents the different associations in Europe, holds many tournaments and competitions for all teams in Europe, and controls prize monies, regulations and other fun things.

UEFA is part of FIFA, and I’m sure most of you have heard of FIFA before. The UEFA is arguably the wealthiest of the leagues, and influencing the game of soccer world wide.

The good folks down at EA Canada have given us the gift of being able to play a game of soccer like it’s played down in Europe. There are many exciting game modes so without further ado let’s talk about them.

The key features, and there are many of them bring a ton of realism to this particular game. You can participate in the Treble, Ultimate Challenge, UEFA Champions League Tournament, Exhibition matches, online play, Medals and Points, The Lounge, and Practice Modes.

Exhibition (or Play Now mode) allows you to pick two teams and battle it out on the field. Ultimate Challenge is really cool because it puts you into a real-life game situation that has happened in the past, and allows you to change history, or repeat history. The more scenarios you complete, the harder they get, until you end defeating them all. This mode reminded me a lot of a baseball game that came out a while ago from Konami called Bottom of the Ninth. You had a mode that would allow you to do the same; repeat history or change it.

Champions League Tournament allows you to pick your favorite team and lead them through the various rounds of the UEFA tournament. You can customize your groups, or pick real life world tournament groups. Keep track of the points you accumulate for defeating certain objectives in your History Book (more on that later).

You can earn certain medals by completing certain objectives and when obtaining a medal, you also obtain a points' bonus based on medals earned. You complete the major objective and you win bronze, first bonus objective gets you the silver, and the second bonus objective wins you the gold. Practice mode, allows you to either scrimmage against the computer, or practice certain drills so you can be at the top of your game and make a run at the championship.
