Super Paper Mario Review
12 out of 15
Nintendo sure has a way with games and Super Paper Mario is an interesting twist on an old genre.

The graphics are good for 2007 standards and probably fantastic by Wii standards. The 2D modes are very crisp and clear, but the 3D modes make all of the buildings and monsters look flat. While I certainly understand that if this were a “Paper” Mario RPG game everything would be flat, it still just seems a little odd how it is implemented. In addition, while the 3D world adds a few items here or there, it is still a pretty empty space that way – no trees or other environment items can be seen.

The gameplay is fun and even though you might finish the game, you’ll probably go back to find items you may have missed the first time around. The game has lots of extras like “catch cards” and “recipes” to make new items, so it definitely has a high replayability factor.

If you’ve never entered the universe of Mario, or even if you already have, picking this game up is a no-brainer and besides, with a dearth of Wii titles coming for a few months, what else are you going to play?
