Burnout Dominator Review
10 out of 15
Burnout Dominator returns us to the old days of Burnout – sometimes that’s good and sometimes it’s not.

The audio is as good as it always has been and is pretty varied. For example, the recently released Avril Lavigne song “Girlfriend” is included on the EA Trax…which is a great rock out song while driving! You can also here all the other versions of the song…but for those who prefer 90s grunge Alice In Chains and Jane’s Addiction also make an appearance.

The controls suffer from the PSP’s small stick – there’s definitely some forgiveness in the controls but I found it difficult to stay on course for a long period of time – especially when trying to stay in the lane as oncoming traffic. It’s not a game breaker but it can be frustrating. The racing itself can be fun and the replay value is high once you get involved with the game.

Burnout Dominator does allow you to go online but not to play games against internet opponents. Instead, you can upload your best scores from the record breaker mode (you can’t upload scores from the World Tour even if those scores are better, which seems unusual). You can then compare your score with other players in the lobby you are in.

There is an ad-hoc mode which allows multiplayer but you must be within the ad-hoc range. There really isn’t anything new here to recommend if you’ve played this mode before on an earlier Burnout game.

Overall Burnout Dominator doesn’t add anything really new to the genre but is great for what it is: portable arcade racing and definitely worth your time if you’re a fan of the series.
