MK:A shines in the depth and replay department. Quite frankly, there is a lot to do here and you won’t be bored. Of course there’s the traditional arcade game, a survival mode and a head to head mode along with various tutorials on how to play the game as well as a “how to play using the Wiimote” guide. Konquest is a very interesting adventure “quest” mode which can lead to many unlockable items and is well worth your time.
Finally, there’s Motor Kombat, which is quite a nice little diversion. This would be a fun Virtual Console title by itself. Using the Wiimote as a steering wheel, you move along various tracks collecting power ups and using those weapons against your opponents. The replay value is high and with single console split screen multiplayer it adds a lot of fun to the game.
The only other big difference between this version and the game on the original Xbox from a year ago is the lack of online play. One hopes Nintendo soon will have online play available on its console, but thankfully, you really don’t miss it with this game as there’s so much to do on your own.
Overall Mortal Kombat Armageddon is a “Best Buy.” There’s a lot of game here for the money, and as long as you haven’t already played it, it’s definitely worth picking up. It sure is “Krazy Kool (hey I had to do something with a K here, right)?
