Dance Dance Revolution Hottest Party Review
13 out of 15
Hottest Party is the best DDR game yet.

Speaking of the controls, the dance pad recognizes where you’re stomping; the only problem is that the pad can move about the floor as you are jumping up and down. The bottom of the pad is supposed to reduce it from slipping but it does move on a carpeted surface. (I haven’t fallen on or off the pad because it’s slipped – it’s more of an incremental move – maybe a ¼ inch after one step or so – but you do notice you’re somewhat closer to the TV then when you started especially if you’re playing a song with a high beats per minute count.)

If for some reason you don’t have an extra dance pad you can use the “+” pad on the Wiimote and push in the direction of the arrows but you’ll lose any workout benefit and let’s face it – that’s really not the intent of the game. That being said, it’s definitely the easiest way to get through it.

The game uses 480p wide screen, the graphics are crisp but not anything to get excited about. You can select and avatar and watch them dance on screen complete with wiimote and nunchuck. It’s cute, but again, you’re probably too busy watching the arrows to appreciate the background.

Overall, DDR Hottest Party is the quintessential game in the series. . It gives you quite a workout, and the new features are truly new and make it worth a purchase. Don’t miss this one.
