If there is one minus in addition to the connection and lobby problems, it is that you need to think about buying an arcade stick for this game. The Hori EX2 stick fits the bill, but is an additional $60 cost on top of the $60 you pay for the game. The 360’s d-pad and left analog stick are not horrendous to play with, but they are a detriment to this precise game.

In the end Virtua Fighter 5 Online is a stupendous fighting game and a worthy successor to the series. If you are new to VF games be prepared to get schooled by veterans if you venture online and don’t learn the intricacies of the game. This is truly the best version of all the VF games and the addition of regularly stable online play makes it that much better. A must buy for fans of the series and a serious look for those that have always wondered why the series is regarded by many as the best fighting game out there.
